Description

Interests can make everyday life more interesting. They can help you discover the unknown parts of yourself and provide comfort when you're feeling down. However, even the things you love are not always pleasant. Sometimes things don't go as you wish, causing heartache; sometimes, due to trouble and difficulties, you might want to give up everything. Hyo-mi, who decorates her room; Eun-jae, who takes care of her pet dog Pori; Do-ha, who is obsessed with music; and Hae-chan, who focuses on gardening, are four sixth-grade children living in Rainbow Apartment. They document their year of focusing on their hobbies and interests, including the happiness and hardships they experience while pursuing what they love. The main characters of the book are neighbors and friends in Rainbow Apartment. Although each book in the series has an independent story, a child's story will overlap with the protagonists of the other four books, making the story richer and fuller. I hope readers of this series will challenge their hobbies, follow the psychological journey of the protagonists, and grow together. "What makes your rose so precious is the time you have spent on it," the fox said to the Little Prince. So let's spend the precious time focusing on our interests at Rainbow Apartment together.

"Rainbow Apartment 101: Hyo-mi's Room"
Bullying from friends has left Hyo-mi with painful memories. Before the start of the new school year, Hyo-mi's family moved to Rainbow Apartment 101. She loves her sunny and cozy little house and has been focusing on decorating her room for a year. Curious about what other people's homes are like, Hyo-mi visits her neighbors' homes and also looks for materials from magazines and books. She selects wallpapers and curtains, moves furniture, and looks for structures that make life more convenient. She finds that organizing drawers and wardrobes can organize a messy mood, and also learns that scents and music can make a space more sensory. As spring, summer, and autumn pass, the room gradually becomes like Hyo-mi. In winter, Hyo-mi invites friends from Rainbow Apartment to a Christmas party. What kind of memories will her room be filled with?

Decorating her own room is a process of cultivating independence and self-awareness. The protagonist Hyo-mi actively decorates and records her room, understanding her preferences. Through "space" as a medium, she understands the people around her and grows in relationships. For Hyo-mi, the room is a passage to understand herself, a resting place to heal wounds, and a laboratory to understand beauty. Hyo-mi is still young, and the room is also small, and it can't be decorated as beautifully as the rooms in the magazine. But in Hyo-mi's heart, sensitivity to environmental and human space design is growing rapidly. Like Hyo-mi, find your own hobby and keep recording. What hobbies do you have? Let's read the stories of the friends in Rainbow Apartment together. They all put their hearts into their interests and hobbies.

"Rainbow Apartment 302: Eun-jae and Pori"
"Like a mother, like a friend, I will cherish and take care of you!"
Eun-jae has always longed to have a pet dog, and when she finally adopted Pori, she felt very happy. Although her parents were worried and reminded her that taking care of a pet requires a great deal of responsibility, Eun-jae was full of confidence. She promised, "I will cherish and take care of you like a mother, like a friend." However, taking care of Pori is much more difficult than she expected. She needs to feed, bathe, deal with excrement, and walk the dog every day, and sometimes Pori bites things and runs around, which makes her very troubled. Although she loves Pori very much, taking care of it is troublesome and hard work. But even so, Eun-jae still takes care of Pori responsibly. When she almost lost Pori one day, when she rushed to the emergency room, Eun-jae shed tears like a storm, feeling heartbroken. During that time, Pori made Eun-jae understand what true love is, because she has invested so much time and energy in it.

"Children yearn for pets, but the responsibility of taking care of pets falls on the parents. Firm commitment and eager determination eventually become nagging." This is a common scene around us. I hope this book can help children make cautious decisions and commitments to welcome the arrival of pets. Through this book, children will think about the responsibilities related to animal companions and learn about the common sense of taking care of pet dogs.

"Rainbow Apartment 201: Do-ha's Violin" (Expected to be published in the second half of 2024)
This book explores the first love and the beauty of music of the young Do-ha. Do-ha's first love is Hyo-mi, the protagonist of the first book, and he expresses his emotions through music. Hyo-mi and Do-ha, over the course of a year, resolve misunderstandings, understand each other, and learn how to properly deal with their feelings.

"Rainbow Apartment 102: Hae-chan's Garden"
This book tells the story of the boy Hae-chan overcoming the pain of losing his family by cultivating the vegetable garden left by his grandmother.
The boy heals his heart full of pain due to the death of his family by cultivating his own garden.
