★Selected Works of Shortlisted Artists from the Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition!
◎The Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition was established in 2015, aiming to provide a platform for emerging illustrators around the world to fully showcase their talents. The regular awards include Domestic Gold Award, International Gold Award, Special Mention Award, and Public Choice Award. All shortlisted and winning works will be exhibited at the China Children's Book Fair (CCBF) and included in the annual the Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition Yearbook.
★"Welcome to My House" is a shortlisted work of the 2024 Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition, telling a joyful story about a little witch being invited to her different friends' homes to do various things together.
★"One Last Adventure" is also a shortlisted work of the 2024 Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition, and it was shortlisted for the 2023 Hii illustration competition - Children's Picture Book Unpublished Category. This is a story about death and parting.
★"The Ship of Books" won the Gold Award for Best Picture Book Comic at the 15th China Animation & Comic Competition Golden Dragon Award (CACC)! It is one of the works by Cui Chao, the winner of the 2020 Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition.
★"Strange Fish" is a shortlisted work of the 2020 Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition. This book is not simply emphasizing individual uniqueness, but is rich in philosophy.
★"Praise" won the Jury Recommendation Award at the 2nd Oriental Doll Original Picture Book Award in 2023.
★"Distance" won the Special Mention Award at the 2018 Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition. This book runs through with the basic questions of philosophy, provoking readers to think deeply!
★"Itself" is a shortlisted work of the 2021 Golden Pinwheel International Young Illustrators Competition. Migration is not only for reaching home, but also for finding a dwelling place for every soul.

The work portrays the image of an insecure and lonely girl who isolates herself from the bustling world, and the colorful lives of her peers around her seem unrelated to her. However, the mysterious appearance of a book brought a turning point to her life.

I don't know where I got a book with a boat on it. The little girl opened it and it grew bigger. Inside, there was a boat inviting her. After boarding the ship, she traveled to various fantastic worlds, and the passing small animals would follow her. As the number of animals increased, she became increasingly afraid, and finally the small animals suddenly spoke to her. The little girl was scared and ran quickly. When she was about to trip, the animals grabbed her and didn't get hurt. This time, she gathered the courage to answer and became good friends with the animals. The ship appeared again, and the girl bid farewell to boarding. After getting off, she found herself at her doorstep. Another child is interested in the book she is holding, and the boy is holding a book with an airplane drawing. The girl answered this time, and then they happily read together. The girl returned home, and this time her parents went out to greet her, no longer just giving her a back view.

The creative inspiration for the work comes from the author's own experiences. The author had a relatively autistic childhood, so he spent a lot of time reading and drawing. Gradually, I learned about the vastness of the world and the kindness of human hearts through books, and gradually came out willing to accept others and make friends. This story is the artistic processing of this experience, woven into a fantastic little story.

Cui Chao

The picture book author's daughter is her source of inspiration. Her creations focus on children's empathy and have a good understanding and grasp of children's sexuality.

In 2016, 'Joyful and Happy' won the Excellent Award in the Picture Book category of the Blue Ocean Creative Cloud Million Creative Entrepreneurship Competition.

In 2017, 'Childhood Memories' was shortlisted for the first anime art competition and exhibited.

In 2018, 'I Know You're Not Sleeping' won the Bronze Award at the 2nd Bronze Sunflower Awards.

In 2018, 'The Ship of Books' won the Gold Award in the Picture Book category at the China Animation Golden Dragon Awards, and was shortlisted for the Little Cold Hat International Picture Book Award and Xiamen Golden Dolphin Animation Award.

In 2019, "I'm Traveling Alone!" was shortlisted for the 13th National Art Exhibition and won the BIBF Pineapple Circle International Illustration Award, Golden Key Picture Book Creation Competition, Xinyi Picture Book Award, and Oriental Doll Original Picture Book Award.

In 2020, 'We Stole a Sperm Whale' was nominated for The Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition.

In 2021, 'We Stole a Sperm Whale' was selected for the Bologna Illustration Exhibition.

In 2021, 'Mom's Secret' was nominated for the 6th BIBF Pineapple Circle International Illustration Exhibition.
