Description
The issues addressed in the text, which are outside the guidelines of traditional scholastic programs, concern the principle of induction and some of its equivalent formulations, the problem of divisibility and factoring of integers, the theory of p-adica evaluation and some types of diophantine equations such as the linear equations and the equations of Pell. The book is accompanied by over 200 examples and exercises, some of which are taken from national mathematical competitions.
The book aims to provide teachers and students of secondary schools of medium-level tools of the theory of numbers needed to address national and international mathematical competitions and mathematical tests of access to the University Schools of Excellence. Thanks to the choice of the topics addressed, the text lends itself to be used also in the university courses of elementary Algebra.
